Manipur: Youth shot in leg by car-borne men in Imphal

Imphal: A 29-year-old man was shot and injured by four armed assailants in a brazen daylight attack in Imphal East district of Manipur on Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 1:30 PM in Sabungkhon Khunou village under Lamlai police station.

The victim, identified as Saikhom Bikash, sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg.

According to police, the assailants arrived at the scene in a white four-wheeler.

After shooting Bikash, they fired several rounds into the air before fleeing. The injured youth was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal for treatment.

Police are investigating the motive behind the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the shooting thus far.
