Guwahati: Following a security coordination meeting in Churachandpur District's Gothal village, a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police led to the seizure of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives.

As per a press release issued by the defence wing on Sunday, Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and ammunition near New Bizang village in Churachandpur District, Manipur, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a search operation that yielded two SLR rifles, one .315 rifle, eight single-barrel rifles, one improvised mortar, and a quantity of ammunition.

The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police.

This successful operation comes after the Assam Rifles held a security coordination meeting in Gothal village on Sunday, June 30, 2024.

The meeting brought together 44 Village Chiefs from sensitive areas to discuss ongoing violence and explore ways to enhance security measures.

Village Chiefs during the meeting were also encouraged to collaborate closely with security forces.
