Imphal: Manipur police and central security forces arrested two cadres of different underground outfits and recovered arms, ammunition, a two-wheeler, and cash in separate operations in Kakching district on Monday.

According to a police report issued on Tuesday, an active cadre of the proscribed United National Liberation Front Koireng (UNLF-K), named Ningthoujam Inaocha, also known as Palor and Pandamba (40), was arrested.

He is a resident of Heirok Part-II, Chingdompok, Thoubal district, and was apprehended from Lamjao Makha Leikai near Pukhri Achouba under Waikhong Police Station, Kakching district. He was reportedly involved in extorting money from the public.

Authorities recovered a .32 pistol along with a magazine, three rounds of .32 ammunition, one voter ID card, one mobile phone with two SIM cards, one purse containing Rs. 41,200, and one two-wheeler.

In another intelligence-based cordon and search operation, police conducted extensive combing to apprehend individuals involved in extortion and other criminal activities in the state.

They also captured an active cadre of the United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK), Yumnam Arun Singh, also called Avatar (27), from his residence at Langmeidong Maning Mayai Leikai under Waikhong Police Station, Kakching district. Authorities seized a mobile phone from him.
