Manipur: Two PLA cadres arrested, arms, explosives, cash seized
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur arrested two cadres of the proscribed underground People's Liberation Army, the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People's Front (PLA/RPF), and recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and Rs 3.2 lakh in cash.
Manipur Police on Wednesday reported that the arrests and seizures took place in different vulnerable areas across two valley districts on Tuesday.
Police said that during the first raid, security forces arrested an active cadre of the RPF/PLA from Malom Makha Leikai under Nambol police station in Bishnupur district.
The arrested individual, Maibam Manishwar Singh (53) of Wabagai Mayai Leikai along Mayang Imphal Road in Kakching district, was found with three mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, a four-wheeler, and Rs 3,25,000 in cash.
In the second operation, security forces apprehended another PLA/RPF cadre, Wangkhem Malangba Meitei (26) of Keibul Awang Thana Leirak under Keibul Lamjao police station in Bishnupur district. He was arrested from his residence.
The third operation was conducted at the Kharungpat Marin Buffalo Farm area under Kakching police station in Kakching district. After an hour-long search, the following items were recovered:
