Imphal: Key figures of the Manipur government convened at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, on Thursday to address the ongoing law and order crisis in the state.

The meeting included the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, Director General of Manipur Police Rajiv Singh, and State Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh.

The high-level discussion follows a recent meeting in the national capital where these leaders, along with the Union Home Minister, deliberated on strategies to restore peace in the violence-stricken border state.

According to a Raj Bhavan communique, Governor Anusuiya Uikey urged the Manipur Security Advisor and Police Chief to intensify efforts to bring back normalcy and peace. During the meeting, DGP Rajiv Singh briefed the Governor on the recent incidents in the Jiribam district and the subsequent actions taken by the state police in collaboration with central forces. He outlined the security measures implemented to prevent further violence across the state.

Governor Uikey directed the DGP to ensure the safety and security of people and property, emphasizing the need for stringent security along the two national highways to facilitate the unobstructed flow of petroleum products and goods.

She instructed the DGP to take decisive action against those involved in violence and to provide necessary security in Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, and all valley districts. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of supporting displaced individuals in Jiribam district.

Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh briefed the Governor on the deployment of state and central security forces at vulnerable locations, especially in the remote areas of Jiribam district.

The Governor reiterated the need for comprehensive security measures to maintain law and order and to promote the restoration of peace and normalcy.

Upon their return from Delhi, Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh and DGP Rajiv Singh met with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh to update him on the security and administrative measures being taken to restore peace in the state.
