Manipur: Three drown in separate incidents in Imphal
Imphal: Three people, including a Naga tribal, lost their lives in drowning incidents in Manipur over the past 24 hours, police said.
Two men, Seram Dhanraj (30) and Thiyam Rohit (29), both residents of Kwakeithel, succumbed after drowning in a public pond at Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai in Imphal.
The incident occurred Sunday night when they were under the influence of alcohol.
In a separate incident, Pureirung Henry Dangmei, a 33-year-old Naga tribal from Mahabali Kabui, drowned in the Imphal River near the Mahabali temple.
The bodies of all three victims were recovered by local authorities on Monday morning.
While the bodies of the two men who drowned in the pond are at the RIMS mortuary, the tribal's body has been sent to JNIMS hospital for a post-mortem examination.
