Manipur: Three arrested with over 1 kg heroin worth Rs 10 lakh
Imphal: A joint team from the central and state security forces arrested a drug peddler during a frisking operation at the Moirang Police Station gate checkpoint in Manipur's Bishnupur district.
The team recovered heroin powder reportedly transported from the southern Churachandpur district.
With this, a total of three heroin peddlers were arrested along with over one kilogram of drugs worth over Rs 10 lakhs in the current state black market, the police reported on Monday.
The drug peddler, named Sheikh Basir Ahamad, a resident of Lilong Nungei, Thoubal district, was captured along with three soap cases containing approximately 74 grams of heroin powder on Sunday.
During the on-site investigation, police established that the illegal items were transported from the Churachandpur district.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Churachandpur District Police, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Imphal, and the 37th Assam Rifles apprehended two peddlers named David Sian Muan Lian (26) of Headquarter Veng, Singngat, Churachandpur district, and Nehgoumang (23) of Boljol village, Churachandpur.
From their possession, 86 soap cases containing 970.20 grams of heroin were recovered.
The police further reported that the arrests and seizure were conducted at Likhai village in the Churachandpur district recently.
The arrested persons were booked under the NDPS Act, 1985.
