Imphal: A large number of people, including government officials, teachers, and students, staged a sit-in protest on Thursday to denounce a bomb threat at the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) in Manipur's Ukhrul.

The demonstration, themed "Education Under Threat," unfolded at the ZEO premises, where unidentified individuals had planted an explosive device on Wednesday morning.

Participants from 21 educational institutions in Ukhrul district headquarters, along with ZEO staff, joined the protest and condemned the actions of the perpetrators.

A.S. Josiah, Principal of Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security measures, including the installation of CCTV cameras at the ZEO and schools across the district.

He expressed concerns about the ongoing threat to education, given the unidentified nature of the culprits, despite police investigations.

Josiah appealed to the community to prioritize the safety of educational institutions, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students. He expressed hope that such incidents would not recur.
