Manipur struck by massive hailstorm, CM issues “urgent assistance alert”
Guwahati: A heavy downpour accompanied by a cyclonic hailstorm struck Manipur at around 1.30 pm on Sunday (May 5), leaving behind a trail of destruction in the Northeast state.
The hailstorm that lasted for nearly 15 minutes caused extensive damage to homes and uprooted trees in the Imphal valley. The hailstorm was so intense that it left parts of the valley covered with 4-5 inches of hail.
The downpour led to several roads in the Imphal city being waterlogged. An uprooted tree fell on an auto rickshaw damaging it partially.
