Manipur: Six drug smugglers, one from Nagaland, arrested with Rs 2 crore drugs

They were identified as Thaongminthang (34) of Moreh Ward No. 2, Nengboi Haokip (48) of Khonomphai, and Ch. Nemneikim Mate (46) of Khonomphai.

Imphal: Manipur police and central security forces have arrested six alleged drug smugglers, including one from Nagaland, and seized approximately two kilograms of brown sugar and heroin powder, with an estimated value of Rs 2 crore in regional black markets, officials reported on Saturday.

In a morning bulletin, Manipur Police stated that a drug smuggler, identified as Abdul Kalam Azad (32), a resident of Dimapur, Nagaland, was arrested at the Sekmai Police Station gate naka checkpoint in Imphal West district.

Approximately 261 grams of heroin powder and a four-wheeler Chevrolet Cruze (NL-07C-0870) were seized from him.

In a second operation, two smugglers, named Md. Najimuddin (31) and Md. Jabir (27), were apprehended in the Yairipok Yambem area under Andro Police Station, Imphal East district.

Approximately 1.04 kg of brown sugar, two mobile phones, and a two-wheeler Honda Dio (MN06-SX-5443) were seized from their possession.

Finally, three individuals, all residents of Tengnoupal district, were captured at the Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP) in Salluk, which serves as a Company Operating Base (COB) for security forces under Chakpikarong Police Station in Chandel district.

They were identified as Thaongminthang (34) of Moreh Ward No. 2, Nengboi Haokip (48) of Khonomphai, and Ch. Nemneikim Mate (46) of Khonomphai.

From their possession, 58 soap cases containing around 1 kg of brown sugar, three mobile phones, one Eco Van (MN06LX/4037), and other documents were seized.

Reports added that all arrestees and seized items have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal proceedings.
