Imphal: A huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives was recovered by security forces during search and area domination operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts of Manipur.

Acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area Phoiyebi in Thoubal district, Manipur, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police Commandos launched a joint operation on 15 May 2024 and recovered one 5.56mm MA-3 Aslt Rifle (Burmese), two mortar Bombs, one RPG Shell, three Grenades, ammunition and war like stores.

The joint team also conducted an operation at an area of Govajang village (SQ 2227) on the IT road, Kangpokpi district on Tuesday with the recovery of one Pumpi (locally made), .22 mm Pistol (Locally made), one .22 mm Pistol magazine (Local made), one SBBL (Local made). 

The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the Manipur police, one individual who was abducted by unknown armed miscreants from Loitang Khunou, Imphal West District was rescued after intense search operations and raiding of suspected places from Lamdeng near Chakhulong Kabui Khul, Imphal West District.

However, the identity of the rescued person has been revealed.
