Manipur: Security forces on high alert after clashes between rebels in Myanmar
Imphal: Security forces along the border between Manipur and Myo Thit, Myanmar, are on high alert following intense clashes between insurgent groups.
Reports reaching the state capital indicate heightened vigilance among Indian forces, including the Assam Rifles, stationed near Namlee village in Manipur's Kamjong district, which borders Myo Thit.
The clashes involve a combined force of insurgents from Manipur and Myanmar's rebel groups – the People's Defence Force (PDF) and the Kuki National Front (KNF-Burma).
The fighting, which began a few days ago and continues intermittently, has reportedly resulted in casualties on both sides.
According to reports, Myanmar-based rebels launched attacks using drones and sophisticated weapons against camps belonging to the Manipur insurgent groups.
These attacks resulted in the deaths of one PDF cadre and one KNF(B) cadre, along with injuries to at least nine PDF and several KNF(B) members.
