Manipur: President Murmu unveils Rs 1,387 cr development projects

Imphal: Manipur, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, marked a historic milestone as President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated and laid the foundation for a wide range of transformative development projects across the state on the first day of her maiden visit.

The President laid the foundation stones for 14 projects worth Rs 1,180 crore and inaugurated 12 projects constructed at a cost of Rs 207 crore at various locations across the state.

Officials organised the significant event as part of the reception for the President at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.

The projects include modern student hostels, new healthcare facilities, upgraded water supply systems, power expansion works, improved tribal and police infrastructure, women-led market spaces, tourism initiatives, and major connectivity projects. Each initiative reflects a unified commitment to progress, inclusivity, and long-term growth.

With new investments across education, healthcare, agriculture, power, water, urban development, policing, sports, heritage, and livelihoods, these projects aim to pave the way for a stronger and more resilient Manipur.

Earlier, when President Murmu arrived at Imphal International Airport around 1 pm, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla warmly welcomed her.

On Friday, she will attend the Nupi Lal observance to honour the courageous Manipuri women who led two historic agitations against British colonial rule.

After the function in Imphal, she will travel to the Senapati district, where she will address a public gathering and lay foundation stones for additional projects aimed at strengthening development initiatives in the hill district.
