Manipur police arrest three PLA cadres after hand grenade recovered
Imphal: A joint team from the central forces and state police arrested three persons allegedly associated with an underground outfit during a search and cordon operation conducted after a hand grenade was recovered in Manipur's Imphal West district on Sunday.
The police reported on Monday that the joint team arrested three active cadres of the proscribed People's Liberation Army, the political wing of the outlawed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF/PLA), from their respective residences under the Lamsang police station, Imphal West district.
The arrestees were identified as Chingangbam Ingomacha Singh, also known as Kishan (50), of Sanjenbam Awang Leikai; Ngangom Inaocha Singh, also called James (49), of Lamsang Awang Leikai; and Huidrom Bhopen Singh, also known as Chingkhei (40), of Mana Ingkhol Mamang Leikai.
According to the police, three mobile handsets and an equal number of Aadhaar cards were seized from their possession.
The police stated that the arrests and seizures followed the discovery of a hand grenade at the residential gate of Shamurailatpam Independent Sharma of Iroisemba Mayai Leikai, Imphal West, under the Lamphel police station.
Upon receiving information about the hand grenade, a team of Imphal West district police rushed to the locality and cordoned off the area.
Later, a bomb detection and disposal squad of the Manipur Police retrieved the hand grenade safely.
The police added that an FIR has been registered at Lamphel police station in connection with the incident.
