Manipur police arrest drug dealer, seize 100g heroin in Imphal East
Imphal: The Anti-Narcotic Squad of the Manipur Police arrested a drug dealer and recovered heroin during an operation in the Imphal East district over the past 24 hours, the police reported on Sunday.
The arrests and seizures were made in a flash operation conducted at the Porompat Pangal Leirak area under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East district.
The arrested individual has been identified as Baseimayum Yaibi, 47, a resident of Porompat Pangal Leirak, Imphal East district.
Seven soap cases of Heroin No. 4 containing a total of 100 grams of high-quality heroin were seized from him.
In the current black market, one gram of heroin powder is priced at Rs 800 in Manipur.
The arrested individual, along with the seized items, is currently in the custody of the concerned police station.
The police stated that two FIRs were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Act, 2023, for further legal proceedings.
They added that the successful seizure underscores the commitment of the police force to maintaining vigilance and tackling the growing menace of narcotics in the region.
