Imphal: The central government has selected Pherzawl, one of Manipur’s backward districts bordering Mizoram, as the pilot site among 22 villages under its Adi Sewa Kendra initiative, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

As part of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, a central government initiative, the government is establishing Adi Sewa Kendras (single-window citizen service centers) in 1 lakh tribal villages.

At the time of its launch in September 2025, 22 pilot sites were operational.

These pilot sites aim to implement responsive, people-centric governance at the grassroots level and enable last-mile service delivery for tribal communities as they co-create their Tribal Village Vision 2030.

The government is establishing the Adi Sewa Kendra, a single-window citizen service center in tribal villages under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan.

It aims to deliver various government services, promote community participation, and empower tribal communities toward self-development.

These Kendras serve as local hubs for accessing services, addressing grievances, and ensuring the efficient delivery of government schemes, thereby strengthening grassroots governance and supporting national development goals such as Viksit Bharat@2047.

An official statement noted that on Thursday, October 2, 2025, villagers in Pherzawl unanimously approved their Village Action Plan during a Gram Sabha held at the village’s designated Adi Sewa Kendra.

The meeting, conducted under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs’ flagship Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, marked the first Gram Sabha held in the district.

Village Authority Chairman, Ramsang Infimate, presented the Village Action Plan, outlining the village’s infrastructure needs and community aspirations. Deputy Commissioner Smt. Mannuamching, along with SDO Tipaimukh, Block Nodal Officer Zosanglur, and several district officials, attended the meeting as observers and interacted with villagers to address their concerns.

Speaking on the sidelines, DC Mannuamching thanked the village leaders and residents for preparing their village plan.

She acknowledged that while the proposal represents the people's aspirations, its approval depends on the concerned state and central agencies.

With Pherzawl chosen as one of the 22 pilot sites under the programme, the approved action plan will now be reviewed by the District Nodal Office before being submitted to the relevant authorities for further consideration.
