Manipur: One killed, three missing near Imphal-Kangpokpi border

Imphal: Fresh clashes were reported in Manipur on Tuesday, resulting in the death of one individual, injuries to another, and the disappearance of three people.

The incident occurred in the inter-district area bordering Imphal West and Kangpokpi, where heavy gunfire and bombardments were exchanged between Village Volunteers (VVs) belonging to different communities around 2 pm.

According to police reports, a village volunteer was killed in the crossfire, while another sustained leg injuries and was rushed to RIMS hospital for treatment.

Search operations are ongoing for three missing persons, with joint security forces deployed to the area to neutralize any threats and locate the individuals.

It may be mentioned that violence in Manipur claimed lives of at least 200 people since May 2023 while displacing several thousand others.
