Manipur: Nagas, Kukis hold unity marches to honour Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy
Imphal: The tribal communities, mainly the Nagas and the Kukis, took out unity marches in different district headquarters in the northern parts of Manipur in an apparent attempt to promote national integrity, good governance, and public service.
In the Senapati district of Manipur, which is predominantly inhabited by the Nagas, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Mamoni Doley, IAS, led the Sardar@150 Padyatra–Unity March from the DC’s Office Complex, Senapati, to the “I Love Senapati” point near the old DC Office on Tuesday.
The programme was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat, Senapati, together with the District Youth Affairs and Sports Department and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell. Altogether, around 300 people participated in the Sardar@150 Padyatra–Unity March. The march began with the floral tribute and the lighting of a candle before the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is known for his unwavering commitment to national integrity, good governance, and public service.
In Kangpokpi, a district predominantly inhabited by the Kukis, the Unity March was jointly organised by the BJP Kangpokpi Mandal and the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Kangpokpi, and witnessed inspiring participation from students, youth, and members of various civil society organisations across the district on Monday.
The Sardar@150 Unity March, part of a nationwide celebration, symbolises Sardar Patel’s unparalleled contribution to uniting the princely states into one strong and sovereign India. The event stands as a living embodiment of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and resonates deeply with the vision of Viksit Bharat and Atmanirbhar Bharat championed by the Prime Minister.
