Imphal: Over 26,000 candidates who appeared for the Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) examination in Manipur's education department between 2016 and 2018 staged a sit-in protest on Sunday, demanding the immediate release of the results.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) Manipur Education School Multi Task Staff written test appeared candidates (2016-2018) organized the protest at Keishampat in Imphal West district.

The protesters, frustrated by the seven-year delay in the declaration of results, accused the state government of negligence.

Placards and banners at the protest site highlighted the candidates' plight and criticized Chief Minister N Biren Singh for his alleged indifference to their demands.

JAC secretary Laishram Ibomcha said the recruitment process for 413 MTS positions was completed years ago, but the results have been withheld without any explanation.

Ibomcha added that despite repeated attempts to meet the Chief Minister and discuss the issue, the JAC has been denied an audience.
