Manipur: More arms & ammo recovered from three districts
Imphal: Security forces with Manipur police uncovered another huge cache of weapons from three districts on Friday.
The recoveries include caches of arms, ammunition, explosives like hand grenades, and material for improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Police said that the items were recovered from vulnerable areas in three districts - Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Thoubal- during joint operations conducted over the past 24 hours.
The joint team of the Assam Rifles, Border Security forces, CRPF, and Manipur police launched operations at Loiching Ridge of Kangpokpi district.
Another followed the operations at Gothol village of Churachandpur district.
The team also conducted operations at the Phainom hill range of Thoubal district.
The threefold operations concluded with the recovery of several weapons.
The seized items include two 303 bolt action rifles, one 9mm pistol with a magazine, 20 live ammunition rounds, four HE-36 hand grenades, two detonators, one tube launcher with one rubber bullet, SMK grenades and one Long Range walkie-talkie set.
Along with these, the police also recovered one country-made mortar bomb without cartridge, one long-range improvised mortar shell, one country-made improvised mortar, one BP jacket, six miscellaneous items, two pumpis (improvised mortar) and other items.
The confiscated items were handed over to the police.
