Manipur minister Govindas Konthoujam meets Amit Shah to review law and order situation
Guwahati: Manipur Minister Govindas Konthoujam met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday to review the law and order situation in Manipur, in the wake of heightened tensions following a recent bomb attack in Bishnupur district.
According to officials, the meeting focused on the prevailing security scenario and measures to restore normalcy in affected areas. The discussion assumes significance as parts of the valley districts continue to witness unrest.
In a statement shared on social media, Konthoujam described the interaction as constructive, saying the two leaders deliberated on steps to strengthen peace and ensure stability in the state. He added that safeguarding the interests of the people amid ongoing security concerns was also a key focus.
The Minister also expressed appreciation for the Centre’s continued support in maintaining law and order and advancing development in the state.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of the Tronglaobi incident in Bishnupur district, where a bomb explosion claimed the lives of two children. The attack has sparked widespread outrage, with protests and demonstrations continuing across several valley areas demanding justice and accountability.
