Manipur: Militant hideout busted with weapons cache in Churachandpur
Imphal: Security forces in a joint operation unearthed a hideout and recovered a substantial amount of weapons and explosives belonging to suspected militants in Churachandpur, Manipur.
The recovered cache include four rockets, six mortars and two grenades.
Based on intelligence input, the joint security team launched a massive cordon and search operation at the vulnerable area of Panjang village in the upper reaches of Thangjing Ridge in Churachandpur district, which adjoins Bishnupur district of Manipur.
According to the Manipur Police Control Room morning report, the operation launched on Wednesday and lasted around 2 hours leading to the successive recovery of the weapons.

As the security forces neared the hideout, the suspected militants abandoned their camp leaving behind the weapons.
Two rockets (approximately 8 ft.), two rockets (approximately 7 ft.), two large country-made mortars, a medium-sized country-made mortar, three Improvised mortar bombs, country-made grenades, and a radio set were recovered in the hideout.
The report added that the recovered items have been handed over to the police for relevant legal proceedings.
