Manipur: Man stabs wife to death in Imphal

Imphal: A 58-year-old man with a reported history of mental illness has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death in Mnaipur's capital city Imphal on Monday morning, police said.

Heikrujam Bijoy, 58, is accused of attacking his 56-year-old wife, H Pishakmacha, at their residence in Khagempali Pankha on Monday around 10 am.

Pishakmacha was reportedly stabbed in the abdomen while performing household chores.

She sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal, but died en route. Her body is awaiting post-mortem at the RIMS morgue.

Police have arrested Bijoy and seized the weapon used in the crime. A case has been registered for further investigation.

According to local media reports, neighbours claim Bijoy suffers from mental illness.
