Manipur: Man shot dead in Thoubal, accused nabbed

Impal: A 52-year-old man was shot dead in Lilong Nungei Makha Chongtham Kona in Manipur's Thoubal district, on Wednesday evening.

Police arrested the suspect and seized the firearm (double-barreled gun) used in the crime.

The victim, identified as Md Najir Hussain (52), son of (late) Md Noor Mohammad, was shot in the abdomen around 7 pm on Wednesday. He was rushed to Noor Hospital, Lilong, but died en route.

Police said the accused, Md Jabir (38) from the same area, has a history of mental health issues and firing shots at neighbors' houses.

A case has been registered, and the victim's body was sent to JNIMS Mortuary, Imphal East, for autopsy.
