Imphal: A prompt response by security forces in Manipur led to the rescue of a kidnapped water tanker driver and the seizure of a cache of arms and explosives.

Md Nurdin (39) was delivering supplies to Indian Reserve Battalion personnel near the border town of Moreh when he was abducted by militants, sparking immediate search operations by Assam Rifles troops.

Nurdin was safely rescued on Saturday, authorities confirmed.

Building on the successful rescue, security forces conducted two separate operations in Tengnoupal district on Saturday, resulting in the recovery of significant military matériel.

During a routine patrol near P. Laijang village, Indian Army personnel discovered a suspicious object wrapped in jute approximately 500 meters away. Upon closer inspection, they found five hand grenades and other military supplies.

In a separate incident, a combined patrol of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police identified freshly dug earth near Molnom village. A thorough search of the site yielded five grenades and an assortment of ammunition.

All recovered items were handed over to the Manipur police for further investigation and potential identification of the perpetrators.
