Manipur: Two KCP-T cadres involved in extortion apprehended in Thoubal
Thoubal: In an operation on Monday morning, the police in Manipur's Thoubal, assisted by the 37 Assam Rifles, apprehended two suspected members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party - Taibanganba (KCP-T) involved in extortion activities.
The operation stemmed from intelligence reports indicating armed youths extorting money through demand letters in the Khongjom area of Thoubal district.
A search and cordon operation was launched in the early hours, leading to the capture of two KCP-T cadres.

While two others managed to escape, police apprehended Wangjam Mukesh (41) alias Koba and Thokchom Ajit (33) alias Commander.

The authorities also recovered 26 demand letters, two mobile handsets, and a car believed to be used in their illegal activities.
The arrested individuals and confiscated items were handed over to the Khongjom police station for further investigation and legal action.
