Manipur: KCP-T cadre arrested, 78 detained in major crackdown
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have arrested a suspected cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party - Taibanganba (KCP-T) and detained 78 others during a series of operations conducted across the state in the past 24 hours.
The arrested KCP-T cadre, identified as Heikrujam Somorjit Singh alias Ningthou (30), was apprehended in Kakching district. Police recovered a weapon and incriminating materials from his possession. He is believed to be involved in extortion activities.
Simultaneously, security forces carried out extensive search and cordon operations in both hill and valley districts to maintain law and order. Over 500 vehicles carrying essential goods were escorted safely along NH-37 and NH-2.
To strengthened security, authorities established 100 checkpoints and detained 77 individuals for various violations across the state.
The arrested KCP-T cadre and seized items are currently in police custody for further investigation and legal proceedings.
