Imphal: The police and security forces in Manipur apprehended two suspected militants on Wednesday.

Acting on intelligence reports indicating the presence of an underground group, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police set up a mobile check post on National Highway 102 near Sora and Kakching villages.

The team intercepted a car travelling from Sora village towards Kakching. Upon inspection, they discovered incriminating documents – extortion letters – and subsequently arrested the vehicle's occupants.

The arrested individuals are suspected to be members of the outlawed KCP militant group.

Both the apprehended individuals and the seized "evidence", including the car and extortion letters, have been handed over to the relevant Manipur Police station for further investigation.
