Imphal: Over 500 participants from different strata of society took part in the Unity March at Manipur's Jiribam district headquarters on Friday, covering nearly 8 km while promoting unity, peace, and national pride.

Senior officials, NSS, NCC, My Bharat volunteers, the Indian Red Cross Society Jiribam Branch, police personnel, students, Self Help Groups, and local organizations joined the march.

The participants held the tricolor high, aiming to inspire youth and citizens to uphold the values of national integration, strength through unity, and commitment to nation-building.

The District Administration Jiribam, in collaboration with MY Bharat, organized the Unity March Sardar@150 Padyatra on Friday as part of the year-long celebration commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Padyatra was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, Krishna Kumar, IAS, from Echel Club Dibong to the DC Office Complex, Jiribam, at 8:00 am.

The event featured vibrant cultural dances performed by the NSS Unit of Jiri College, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Additionally, sports materials were distributed to 20 youth clubs of Jiribam affiliated with Mera Yuva Bharat.

As part of the celebration, MY Bharat logo T-shirts and caps were distributed to participants.

Prizes were also awarded to the winners of the Essay Competition, which was organized in connection with the event.

The event served as a fitting tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's vision of a united India, reaffirming the collective resolve of the people of Jiribam to uphold the ideals of unity, service, and nation-building.

The event was attended by SDO Jiribam L. Tarajeet Singh, MCS, DFO Jiribam E. Nirmala Chanu, ZEO Jiribam Th. Amurashi Chanu, SDPO Jiribam Noor Kamal Sheikh, SDC/BO Jiribam RK.

Gyandeep Singh, NSS i/c Jiribam, Th. Somorendra Singh, District Youth Officer, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and Mera Yuva Bharat, Jiribam, Worchipem AC, District Level Officers, students from various educational institutions, and local organizations.
