Manipur: Huge cache of weapons seized in Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal districts
Imphal: Security forces recovered a huge of weapons during operations in the Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal districts of Manipur, predominantly inhabited by Kuki communities.
Based on intelligence input, security forces and Manipur police launched a joint operation in Changoubung village, Kangpokpi district, on Saturday.
They seized a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, including a 9mm country-made pistol with a magazine, a 7.65mm pistol with a magazine, and five live rounds of ammunition.
Earlier, security forces raided a location in Yagoubung village, Tengnoupal district, which borders Myanmar.
They recovered a significant amount of weaponry, including an SLR rifle with an empty magazine, a pistol with an empty magazine, a 12-bore rifle, a Kenbo motorcycle of Myanmar origin, 502 rounds of assorted live ammunition, 200 grams of gunpowder (a raw material for improvised explosive devices), and three radios with batteries.
No arrests were made during the operations. However, authorities believe the weapons were intended for attacks on security forces, state police, and civilians.
The seized weapons and other items have been handed over to the relevant police stations for further investigation.
