Imphal: The Indian security forces and Manipur Police unearthed a hideout and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition.

In a joint operation, the Indian Army, Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the adjoining locations of two valley districts - Imphal West and Kangpokpi district on Wednesday morning, the police said.

According to a police report, at first, the search operation was launched at a location/hideout of the suspected miscreants after cordoning off the area in the village Khelakhong Mamang Leikai, an adjoining location of the Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts.

The operations included an explosive detection dog which led to the recovery of a self-loading rifle with a magazine, a .303 modified rifle with a magazine, 3 hand grenades, a 9 mm pistol with a magazine, a tube launcher, and some ammunition of different calibers.

The seized weapons and ammunition have been handed over to the police station concerned for further processing.
