Guwahati: The Red Shield Division of the Indian Army recovered a huge cache of sophisticated weapons and ammunition during an operation in Manipur.

Acting on intelligence reports suggesting the presence of arms in an abandoned camp, a team from the Division launched a swift operation in the Icham Moirangpurel hill ranges bordering Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts on Saturday night.

The search and cordon operation led to the discovery of a significant haul of weapons and explosives from the deserted camp, previously occupied by militants.

The seized items included one 5.5 mm Insas rifle, two 12-bore shotguns, two .303 rifles, and a substantial amount of ammunition.

While no arrests were made during the operation, the recovered weapons have been handed over to the Lamlai police station for further investigation and legal action.
