Imphal: In a poignant tribute, Manipur remembered the lesser-known history of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his Indian National Army (INA) on his Punyatithi (death anniversary) on Sunday.

The tricolour was proudly unfurled at the historic INA headquarters in Moirang, Bishnupur district, amidst a grand ceremony.

The 165 ft tall flagpole, the tallest in North-East India, symbolizes the nation's pride and glory.

The INA headquarters, established by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, holds immense historical importance.

On April 14, 1944, the INA first hoisted the tricolour at Moirang, marking a pivotal moment in India's struggle for independence.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh paid his respects to the valiant leader.

He said, "I pay my humble respects to the valiant leader who took a crucial role in the country's freedom struggle by leading the Indian National Army (INA) to fight the British colonial rule."

"As we remember Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, let us remember the historic event that stands as a testament to the state's significant role in our liberation struggle", he added.
