Manipur Helicopter Service gains Rs 90 crore revenue since launch

Imphal: Manipur's Helicopter Passenger Service, launched in 2018 under the Central Government's Regional Connectivity Scheme, has recorded significant revenue of Rs 90 crore by March 1, 2024, transporting over 31,000 passengers.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the Regional Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik, on Wednesday, highlighting its role in enhancing connectivity and economic growth, particularly in remote areas.

The service operates on routes including Imphal-Churachandpur, Imphal-Aizwal, Imphal-Lairouching, Imphal-Dimapur, Imphal-Moreh, and Imphal-Ukhrul. 

The Chief Minister emphasized that fares are subsidized at Rs 2,500 per ride, making helicopter travel accessible.

He added that the government aims to expand the service to cover more areas in the state's hill districts. 

This affordable and convenient service is expected to benefit residents, especially for medical transportation and emergencies.
