Manipur: Grenade attack on ex-MLA's residence in Imphal

Imphal: A former MLA's residence in Manipur's Imphal East district was targeted in a grenade attack on Saturday night, police said.

Unidentified assailants in a car hurled the explosive device at the home of Nahakpam Indrajit, a former MLA representing the Kshetrigao constituency.

The incident occurred around 10:20 pm at Thambaolkhong Sabal Leikai under Porompat Police Station.

The blast caused damage to the residence's gate but no injuries were reported. Police, bomb disposal experts, and forensic teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.

An investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack and identify the culprits.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
