Imphal: The Manipur government collected Rs 11.74 crores as state revenue from the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system from its introduction in this sensitive border state to date.

During the period from 2020 till August 12, 2024, the state government authorities received Rs 11.74 crores as state revenue, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Monday.

Participating in the consideration and passing of the Manipur appropriation bill in the 6th session of the 12th Manipur legislative assembly on Monday, the Chief Minister said.

This huge amount of money has been collected for issuing ILP certificates to over 8.53 lakh individuals who entered Manipur during this period, the Chief Minister said.

The ILP was introduced in Manipur on January 1, 2020, making it the fourth state after Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Mizoram to bring in the requirement.

As per the norm, outsiders, including people from other parts of the country, must get permission to visit states that come under the ILP regime.

The ILP is an official travel document issued by the state government to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen visiting the beautiful state of Manipur for a specific period.
