Manipur governor visits flood relief camp, assures assistance to affected families
IMPHAL: Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey, on Thursday (June 06), visited a relief camp at hostel no 2 in Khuman Lampak sports complex in Imphal East district, to address the grievances of flood-affected residents who have sought shelter there since last week.
During her visit, the Manipur governor distributed drinking water packages and emergency lamps to the displaced families.
The recent floods in Manipur, caused by Cyclone Remal from May 28 to June 01, severely impacted the Imphal Valley, causing significant damage to homes and belongings, and resulting in loss of lives and properties.
While speaking with the displaced residents, Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey acknowledged the severity of the natural disaster.
She stated that both the Manipur chief minister and the state’s chief secretary have been instructed to implement immediate relief measures.
Additionally, district administrators have been directed to assess the situation and conduct surveys of the affected families.
The Manipur governor consoled the residents, assuring them of all possible assistance from both Raj Bhawan and the Manipur government.
Approximately 138 individuals from 24 families are currently residing in the relief camp.
On her way back to Raj Bhawan, the Manipur governor inspected several flood-affected areas, stopping at Nagaram to meet with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel.
