Manipur: Girl killed, 2 women injured in Kakching Khunou road accident

Imphal: A 27-year-old girl died and two married women were injured, one seriously, after being hit by a speeding Mahindra Bolero at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai in Manipur.

The incident occurred around 11:00 am on Monday near the bifurcated road under the Waikhong police station's jurisdiction.

The women were purchasing vegetables on the footpath when the driver, traveling from Kakching Khunou bazaar, lost control of the vehicle due to suspected steering failure. The Bolero first rammed an auto-rickshaw before hitting the pedestrians.

Salam Rosibina was declared dead on the spot. The injured, Meishnam Devala (39) and Khumukcham Rojibala (40) are residents of Kakching Khunou. They were rushed to Jivan Hospital for treatment.

The driver was apprehended along with the vehicle. Police have registered a case and are investigating the accident further.

The body of the deceased has been sent to JNIMS Hospital in Imphal for autopsy.
