Manipur: Four KYKL members arrested in Kakching
Imphal: In a significant blow to the proscribed outfit Kanglei Yaol Kan-na Lup (KYKL), Manipur police commandos and central forces arrested four suspected activists involved in alleged extortion drives targeting government employees and the public in the southern Kakching district.
The police said that on Monday, two active (suspected) cadres, Elangbam Rajen Singh (47) and Ningthoujam Ibomcha Singh (53), were arrested from Keirak Khongnang Makhong, Kakching District, with a four-wheeler vehicle and a mobile phone recovered from their possession.
On Sunday, two other cadres, Maibam Roshan Singh alias Kishan (38) and Maibam Naocha Singh (36), were arrested.
The police said that during the operation, they seized four mobile handsets, a wallet (black), an Aadhaar card, Rs 11,950 in cash and a car.
The arrested individuals were allegedly involved in extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and monetary demands from stone crushers and mobile shops in the Kakching, Hiyanglam, and Sekmaijin areas.
