The event was attended by State BJP President A. Sarda Devi, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Home Minister K. Govindas, and other senior leaders.

Luwang is a seasoned politician who has won five times from the Wangkhem Assembly constituency in Thoubal district.

In the 2012 Assembly elections, he contested from the same constituency on a Manipur People’s Party ticket but was defeated by Congress (I) candidate K. Meghachandra.

Welcoming the new entrants, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh posted on Facebook: “I extend a warm welcome to former minister and senior political leader Nimaichand Luwang and Gokul Luwang to the BJP fold. Their decision to join the BJP reflects the growing confidence in the party’s vision of development, good governance, and a stronger Manipur. We remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the people and advancing the state’s progress and prosperity.”
