Manipur: Explosives and arms recovered from abandoned militants’ camp

IMPHAL: Security forces and Manipur police, in a coordinated operation, uncovered an arms depot within an abandoned camp believed to be utilized by militants in Manipur.

A significant cache of arms and explosives was successfully recovered during a search operation conducted across abandoned sites and the vicinity of villages along the hill bases at Champhai hill range under Sagolmang police station in Imphal East district of Manipur on Monday (April 08) night.

The operation was conducted by a joint team comprising police personnel from Imphal East district in Manipur and Assam Rifles troopers.

The operation was a part of ongoing efforts to restore peace in strife-torn Manipur.

As a result of the operation, security forces recovered one .22 rifle, thirty-nine live ammunitions, seven blank cartridges, twenty-eight ILLUM JMK ammunition, twenty MK 12 T ammunition, fifteen high explosive hand grenades, seven tube launchers, one magazine box, one walkie-talkie set with charger, and one blue Tripal plastic.

The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur police for further investigation.
