Manipur: CM Yumnam Khemchand visits Sainik School Imphal, pledges action on infrastructure issues
Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited Sainik School Imphal, where MLA of Khurai constituency L Susindro Meitei, Principal Colonel A Rajiv and senior officials received him.Colonel Rajiv briefed the Chief Minister on the school’s functioning.
During the presentation, he highlighted key grievances and challenges, including deteriorating infrastructure and water supply issues. He also pointed to the need to strengthen the perimeter wall. In addition, he flagged the pending construction of a girls’ hostel and sound clarity problems in the Vikram Batra Auditorium.
At the same time, Colonel Rajiv showcased the school’s recent achievements. He highlighted strong performances in competitive examinations as well as cadets’ participation in various national-level events.After the presentation, the Chief Minister assured that he would take up the concerns with the relevant authorities for appropriate action.
He emphasised that students are the pillars of society; therefore, the government must give their needs due importance. He appreciated the school administration for maintaining standards despite constraints. Furthermore, he acknowledged the institution’s role in shaping disciplined and capable youth.During the visit, he inspected different parts of the campus to assess infrastructure requirements.
Based on his inspection, he identified areas that require construction, renovation and repair. He then interacted with members of the Alumni Association, staff and students. He encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities.
The Chief Minister also met Memota Keisham, a student who earlier interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 9th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha. She was among only 15 students selected from nearly four crore participants nationwide. He commended her confidence and achievements.Commissioner (Education), Government of Manipur, Ningthoujam Geoffrey; Squadron Leader and Administrative Officer Sachin Kumar; Senior Master A Rommel Singh; and other senior officials attended the visit.
