The Chief Minister, while mourning the death of the driver believed to be from West Bengal, called the incident a “cowardly act” intended to disrupt essential supplies and further worsen the tense situation in the region.

He said people involved in transporting goods play an important role in maintaining supply chains across the state, and attacks on them are aimed at spreading panic and insecurity.

He further suggested that groups with vested interests may be behind the incident, intending to obstruct government efforts to restore peace and normal conditions in Manipur.

The Chief Minister also wished a speedy recovery for the injured police constable, who sustained a bullet wound during the firing.

Search operations are underway in nearby areas to trace those involved. The government has also said that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.
