This is for the first time the Chief Minister made his spot survey after the cyclonic hailstorms accompanied by heavy downpours lashed the state causing damages to around 16, 000 houses on May 5, 2024.

Upon his arrival at the Konthoujam village, the Chief Minister was informed by S Ranjan that around 99 per cent of houses with tin roofing in Konthoujam GP areas were damaged by the hailstorm. People are taking refuge in safer locations, he said.

Several crops and fruits were also damaged and hundreds of birds died across the state.

Rajan also submitted a list of houses damaged by the hailstorms.

In reply to a question, concerning power cuts experienced owing to the strong wing and deadly storms, the CM said that to restore power supply in areas where power supply has been cut off due to fallen power poles, restoration or re-erection of power poles has already started.

Powercut would be restored soon after the repair work was done.

The government is always ready to provide any sort of relief materials and compensation to the people affected by the fury of nature, the CM said.
