Manipur CM flags off 13 mobile medical units to improve healthcare access in hill districts

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday flagged off 13 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) to improve healthcare access in remote hill districts of the state.
The units, launched at the Directorate of Health Services in Lamphel, Imphal, will operate under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA).
The initiative will cover Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts, with the mobile units providing healthcare services in geographically isolated areas.
According to officials, the units will offer outpatient consultations, basic diagnostic services, essential medicines, maternal and child healthcare, screening for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, oral healthcare, health awareness programmes and referral services.
The Chief Minister said the initiative was aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving access to medical services in underserved communities.
The programme was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Sumant Singh, Director of Health Services N. Hemantakumar Singh, State Mission Director of the National Health Mission Manipur M. Dinesh Singh and other officials of the Health Department.
