Heavy and incessant rainfall since Thursday afternoon led to waterlogging and damage in several parts of the town.

Thangjohnson, son of (late) Paukhanmung of New Lamka Vengnuam South, was reportedly swept away by strong currents on Thursday while trying to retrieve construction materials that had been washed away during embankment construction work along the Lanva River. There has been no trace of the missing person so far, and he is feared to have drowned.

The DC and District Administration officials also visited various philanthropic organisations engaged in the search operation for the missing person along the Tuitha River and distributed water bottles and refreshments.

The District Administration appreciated the efforts of the organisations involved in the search operation.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Seiminthang Lenthang, Additional Deputy Commissioner, SDOs and other officials of the district administration.
