Manipur: Bomb defused in Moreh, locally-made grenades seized

Guwahati: In a worrying sign of continued security challenges, Manipur witnessed multiple incidents involving explosives over the past 36 hours.

On Sunday, near the State Bank of India's Moreh branch office, a bomb was discovered by patrolling state forces.

Suspected to be fired by militants using a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), the explosive device failed to detonate.

A bomb disposal squad from the Assam Rifles was called in and safely detonated the bomb on-site.

Meanwhile, in another incident near P Laijang village, an Indian Army patrol stumbled upon a suspicious object wrapped in a jute bag.

Upon closer inspection, the object turned out to be a cache of five locally made hand grenades and other war materials.

All the items were immediately seized by the personnel.
