Manipur: Assam Rifles seize huge cache of illegal arms in Churachandpur district
Imphal: In a resolute counter-insurgency effort, the Assam Rifles under the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) conducted a swift and professionally executed operation in the Bolneo area of Manipur's Churachandpur District, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of illegal arms on Monday.
Acting on credible intelligence gathered through internal sources and verified through a detailed assessment, the operation was launched with precision to ensure minimal disruption to the local population in the Bolneo area, about 5 km from Ningthiching village under Henglep police station, Churachandpur district.
An official statement made on Tuesday confirmed that during the operation, security personnel recovered seven modified projectile launchers, eleven locally-made Pumpi projectile HE bombs, seven country-made single-barrelled rifles, two country-made pistols, two pistol magazines, three pistol live rounds, two Baofeng handsets, nine BP jackets, six anklets, and nine ammunition pouches.
The operation concluded with the coordinated efforts of the troops, whose disciplined approach and tactical efficiency ensured the mission’s success without compromising civilian comfort or security.
The reports added that the recovered items were later transferred to the relevant police station, where further legal proceedings were initiated.
