Manipur: Another arms and ammo cache recovered in Churachandpur
Imphal: A team of the Assam Rifles and Manipur police recovered a total of 11 guns of different types and ammunition in a target operation at militants' hideouts in a vulnerable area of Churachandpur district.
The recoveries were made after operating at the abandoned camps earlier occupied by the militants at Canan Veng and New Lamka of Churachandpur district in the past 24 hours.
Police said that in the first raid conducted at Canan Veng village of Churachandpur, the joint team recovered 11 firearms of different types.
The weapons/guns included four 12mm barrel Rifles, four Improvised Mortars (Pumpi Gun), one 12mm Rifle, one 9mm Pistol with magazine, and one .303 Rifle with magazine.
After recovering two Tear gas gun shells, 7.62mm ammunition, 9mm ammunition, and several .303 rifle ammunitions, the operation concluded.
The operation lasted around 2 hours but didn't yield any arrest of the individual(s) involved.
The seized items were later deposited with the Churachandpur district police for further legal action, the police added.
