Manipur: 76-year-old woman dies after being kicked by footballer in Imphal

Imphal: A 76-year-old woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal attack by her neighbor in Imphal in Manipur on Saturday.

The accused, identified as 43-year-old Kh Gokulchandra, a part-time footballer, has been arrested.

Police said the incident occurred at a community hall in Iroishemba Mamang Leikai, under Lamphel police station.

Gokulchandra allegedly kicked the elderly woman, Khangenbam (ongbi) Mema, multiple times with his studded soccer shoe during a fit of rage.

The severely injured woman was rushed to JNIMS hospital but was declared beyond recovery. She later died at her residence.

A case has been registered, and the accused is currently under police custody for further investigation.
